Participation of the AMVRADIA Project in the 9th General Panhellenic Arta Exhibition

Within the framework of the 9th General Panhellenic Arta Exhibition, which opened its doors on Wednesday, September 27 and ended on Tuesday, October 3, the AMVRADIA-Research and development of advanced computational techniques for remote monitoring of wild avifauna to prevent the spread of avian influenza using drones and other devices project of Priority Axis 3 “RESEARCH AND APPLICATION”, of the “NATURAL ENVIRONMENT & INNOVATIVE ACTIONS 2022” financial Program of Green Fund, had the opportunity to present its main goals and directions.

The AMVRADIA project, coordinated by the Institute of Industrial Systems and implemented in collaboration with the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, aims to research and develop advanced computing techniques for remote monitoring of wild birds to prevent the spread of avian influenza using drones and other devices.

The visitors had the opportunity, both with the use of visual material and with interpersonal communication with the laboratory’s research staff, to be informed about the project’s actions and the results obtained during its implementation, which relate to the design and development of an initial bird tracking model using machine learning algorithms.

Furthermore, particular interest was expressed by the visitors in the expected benefits to be derived from the project in terms of the immediate detection of diseases and illnesses prior to the occurrence of mass events in wildlife and prevention of their spread as well as the early detection of the potential for high pathogenicity of diseases and illnesses in birds.
